Pukeko at home

lovely blue sky day today - pity to have to work!

Went up to a nearby river on the way home and came upon this pukeko, nice light, pulling river weed out to eat.

Great place for a pukeko to be - no danger of being hit by a car, lots of water, lots of weed. Water looked very clear too. Rushes to hide in - it's surprising how well these birds can hide too, when they are big and bright. And of course they can do everything, walk on swampy ground, swim, fly, they've got it all!
