Another Crab Apple !
This crab apple was the very first tree I planted on the farm, nineteen
years ago now. Every year it has fruited abundantly and this year is
exceptional, the branches are weighed down with trusses of fruit. A
friend of mine collects the fruit and makes delicious crab apple jelly, I
fancy having a go at making some crab apple wine.
Over the years many trees have been planted, mostly native woodland
species but also fruit and nut trees, we have a small but flourishing
orchard and the hedgerows and woodland edge have been planted with
edible species like damsons, elder and hazels.I like the idea of making
all sorts of produce from the land but the reality is I manage a few
things each season, always so many things to juggle with ones time!
