Discovery
Yesterday evening the owner of the estate at Kinlochmoidart was speaking with my Grandad, and told him about another vitrified fort, on a rock off the old path between Kinlochmoidart and Glenuig. We went to look for it today, and although we didn't find the fort, we certainly weren't disappointed.
The old path was used before the tarmac road was built in the late 50's, and today it's hard to believe that it was ever used as a main link, but it was interesting seeing how much effort had been put into making the path useable in the past. We found the rock where the fort was meant to be, but instead of a fort we found something much better - an absolutely amazing view! From the top of the rock we could see almost the whole of Loch Moidart; from Tioram in the south channel, the island of Eigg through the north channel, and towards Kinlochmoidart in the East. The opposite side of the loch from where we were was the Silver Walk, where we were yesterday. The photo doesn't do the view justice.
In the afternoon, a few of us took the dogs to Ardtoe, although we didn't stay long as we were followed by a little Jack Russell-type dog whose bark was, somehow, even higher pitched than Liffey's.
