Toasting marshmallows

This is four of our youngsters having a little bonfire at the bottom of the garden. It's near enough Emma's bath/bedtime, but she'll remember this for some time to come.

I've just found out that marshmallows used to be made from a herb plant which when pulverised, turned into a jelly-like substance. Nowadays they use different ingredients including gelatine and of course, sugar. Don't like them personally, but every child I've met does.

It's been quite windy over here, but sunny most of the day, so I think we've got of lightly from what I've seen on the tv news. I've been needing to transport some large flat pieces on my roof rack, but can't get them up there without them blowing off - looks like I'll have to wait until Wednesday before it's calm enough to try again.
