The 9.45 from Cardiff arrives in Fishguard Harbour, for the very first time. Thanks to the tireless efforts of local people, young and old, there will now be trains at times of day that are useful to local communities, as well as to those catching the Irish ferry. A large welcoming party included a good helping of dignitaries, a children's choir and a harpist. The train was half an hour late because someone stole the signalling wire at Swansea. Even with the company now owned by Germans, total reliability is an illusion.
