Where were you?
Probably the most asked question today. J. and I reminisced (we didn't know each other back then) but realized we already talked about it - it probably comes up every year. J. was in India and couldn't fly back over Afghanistan, I was in class were the meaning of overkill was discussed - little did we know that the best explanation was going on exactly at that time. I found out an hour later walking into a kitchen with my mum staring at the TV. Today I wondered about the girl I was back then and about innocence. Heard the phrase that the world lost its innocence after 9/11 a lot. I don't know about you, but even as a 16-year-old I didn't find the world particularly innocent before 9/11. But well, that might be what happens on a school with teachers talking overkill to adolescents...
10 years after that dreadful day I was taking J.'s picture in the street, while he was calling a friend. Portraying someone who's on the phone is really easy: they act naturally, are concentrated on their conversation and not on you... Really liked the post-rain shine on the streets and the seriality of the architecture in the background.
