Blushers
Amanita rubescens
The second of my 2 forays this weekend. Yesterday was about recording on an urban site. Today was foodie fun in the countryside.
We found lots of lovely stuff, notably bay boletes, a couple of penny buns and saffron milk caps in abundance. There were plenty of very pretty non-edibles as well - fly agaric, some very colourful russulas and one of my favourites, the parrot wax cap. As always there were lots of blushers. On our way to round off a brilliant morning with our customary bacon butty at the legendary Grindleford caff, we also collected sloes (bumper crop this year) and even managed to beat the squirrels to some hazelnuts.
Badger took me by surprise last night - early arrival at 10.15 so at least I got to watch him from the kitchen window for 5 minutes. He was a bit jumpy, but then it was Saturday night, so there's more human activity in the neighbourhood than on a weeknight.
