There's nothing worse than a Sunday spent doing DIY, especially when it is bookended by two encounters with IKEA. Today I had to return a painting, the frame of which was damaged (.... after I dropped it on the way to the car) and later on today our new wardrobe arrives, thus consigning me to at least two more evenings of DIY. Joy.

In other news, I saw a big Delta 767 flying over the house today. Tell you what peeps, the last place I'd want to be is on a 767 heading for the US.

Ten years ago today I was working in Galway when the planes hit and the world changed. Seeing the endless reruns of the 9-11 horror hasn't changed the way I feel about this, the "Kennedy assasination" era defining moment of our generation. What makes me sadder though is the ten years of war and misery which folliowed, ten years that have made the world a much more dangerous place.
