RWC Opening! =D
Went down to the viaduct for the opening of the World Cup today! Man had never seen Auckland so busy in my life! It was packed everywhere in town! Was a mission in itself to get from one end of the wharf to the other, spent most of the day pushing through crowds. It was worth it though. We managed to get a pretty good spot to watch the opening ceremony though. The atmosphere in the crowd was amazing! Before the ceremony even started people were chanting and shouting out their teams, and then when the ceremony started there was loads of cheering and screaming. It was fantastic! Got caught up in the spirit and excitement of it all.
The fireworks were amazing as well. They were right in front of use so we had a pretty good view. They were going off everywhere around the CBD didn't know where to look!
It was too crowded to watch the game by the waterfront so we walked up to a bar and watched the game on one of their screens. It was loads better then if we stayed at water front. We could see clearly and the atmosphere was still amazing. Shouted so much my voice went all hoarse. Worth it for the All Blacks win though! 41-10! Good start to the RWC! Hope they keep winning the whole way through!
Amazing as day! All Blacks are best!
Took this photo as the guys got off their waka during the afternoon. They all ran past us on the way to their haka.
