That Will Do!

Misty Morning

This morning was decidedly damp and drizzly but in these conditions one tree in my garden comes into its own.

It's a Japanese Cedar (though is not a true Cedar), Cryptomeria Japonica Elegans and I love it for two reasons; its habit of changing colour between the seasons, from bright green in spring to rusty bronze in autumn; and its short, soft needles which catch the rain or dew so the whole tree sparkles in the light. In sunshine this can be breathtaking.

I managed to photograph just a few inches to try to show the effect.
