Temple Tours

Today was another day of quarantine for me and the first time in however long that I have found myself alone in the flat with a whole, massive, huge, long, humungous empty day ahead of me. A day that unfurled itself at 8am this morning, like a fresh never walked on before carpet in front of my very eyes. Waiting for my steps at whatever pace I liked - yes, a whole day of skipping, sliding, moon-walking down my own uninterrupted, un-puked on, un-spilt on floor furnishing. Oh yes.

sorry, did I say that out loud?

Let's start again.

I continued my illness in a solitary, feverish way until lunchtime. Which is when I started to feel a bit better and thanked the antibiotics with a celebratory cup of tea. I then decided to do a little work as the precipice of feeling too ill to do anything was way behind me. I quickly realised that I was a textbook short** and floundered for a while and then remembered that I also draw stuff sometimes...

So, I did some painting. This is an ongoing series of very quick paintings that fit in any gap that I can find - normally about half an hour at the end of the day. These paintings are kind of like painting versions of blips. The subject of each reference momentary flashes of memory, snapshots of news, my general interests etc. They are fleeting stills that punctuate my day and for whatever reason I want to think about them more. So today: 1. from a blip of mine a couple of weeks ago; 2. Laurie Anderson's legs - from a Wire; 3. A still from a George Kuchar film - he died this week; 4. A comment that I saw on facebook and thought a little odd. Ho hum.

Not sure what will happen to these paintings and I guess that is what is important/not important about them.

Ok Pete and Bernie's Philosophical Steakhouse is now closed (c. Alan Partridge)

Safe and ecstatically happy weekending all.

** not a euphemism!!!
