Every photo tells a story

I can resist anything but temptation.

Forgive me for referring back to my rant from yesterday, regarding an item from the O.U. reader from D103. Dealing with racial stereotypes. There was a cartoon bemoaning the idea that all Scots, were mean. This of course is totally erroneous, as is the belief that Yorkshire folk are similarly affected. My sister lives near Barnsley, and says that, "OW MUCH?" is the Barnsley war cry. I couldn't possibly comment. Allegedly, part of the reason for the Scots being parsimonious, is the suggestion, that the late Harry Lauder, was a total skinflint. It was said that he never carried cash, and would never sign an autograph. He would however pay by cheque even very small amounts. He knew that many people would retain the cheques in lieu of his autograph. Another cartoon depicts a stout comedian, fag in hand, starting with the line, "There were three thick paddies..." It's been quite a while since I read this , but I think it mentions, Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw and let's say, Eamonn De Valera. Oscar has to be my favourite wit. The line of the title, is taken from Lady Windermere's Fan. Just thinking about this line conjurs up some of the wonderful quotations written by him, and the works they came from. Also from LWF, "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." My sister is a little like me, sort of strange sense of humour. She will often say when looking for her bag, "In a handbag?"
BTW, these sweeties are very nice, and there were, a great deal more than pictured here. I just had to make sure they up to the mark. They were. They sell them at Aldi for 89p for 250 grammes, and are made by Haribo. Other sweets and stores selling them are available.
Just received a text from my new employers. They want me to start a week early. This message arrived after I got the knock back from what I thought was a sure thing. Truly as one door closes, another one opens, or is that the wrong way round. PNEFC at home to Yeovil Town tonight, I can't remember us playing them at home before.
Adios.
