An Old Airman's Life

Waiting for the Red Line

A second cool morning ride.  Wonderful way to start the day.  I was enjoying the weather so much that I was not pushing the bike hard up the Katy Trail.  Most mornings, I don't.  If I push hard, I make an earlier train that if I lollygag along.  Here is my train pulling out of the Lovers Lane light rail station.

This is the Red Line.  I know the train is yellow, but the destination signs in the windows are red.  I point this out because one of my best friends stood at the light rail station for many minutes waiting for the RED line to pass by.  Plenty of YELLOW line trains passed before she asked someone when a RED line would arrive.  Texas is not known for its public transportation so many if not most Texans have never rode on a bus or train.

The Cowtown Classic bicycle ride is this Saturday.  I signed up for the 100k.  My riding since my nose surgery on June 30th has been very limited.  I hope to be able to make the entire ride.  My goal is not set any personal records.  I just want to make the course and be able to drive home.  If the weatherman knows what he is talking about, we should have great weather.  Ninety one degrees with zero percent chance of rain.  And if we have just minimal winds, that would be great as well.

Tonight I am riding to Central Market for my friend's brewery's new beer release.  It is called Visionary Brew.  Don't know what style it is but am sure it will be good.  I need to get back into riding a lot.  For the past two months, I have been consuming food and drink as if I am riding 100 miles a week.  Most of that time, the doctor restricted me from any riding.  Then lately, I have had a hard time getting motivated.  This morning, I got on the scale and saw it read 188 pounds.  Not good.  I had weighed 175 pounds.  Either I stop eating or start riding.  So off riding I will go.
