A gorgeous bird

This fine specimen was strutting her stuff in the countryside just outside Totnes. I had been on a walk alongside the River Dart, through some farmland until I came up through a cornfield to meet this Hen at a gate. One strange thing to see on this walk was a railway cutting studded with dozens of garden gnomes....what was that about?
