Sick Kid

Well, after dropping Finlay off at nursery today was spent entirely at Sick Kids with Susie and Brody. We got the unthinkable news last night; that they are treating Brody for meningitis. As you can imagine this caused a certain amount of panic. The consultant calmed us a little by explaining that as the results of lumbar puncture were suggesting signs of infection, they had to treat the worst case scenario as a precaution.

They now need to grow the culture for 48 hours to see what develops before they will know for certain what is causing his high temperature. By that stage Brody will be full of antibiotics anyway. Regardless of what happens though, he'll have to stay in until at least Saturday; so it's just me and Finlay for next couple of nights.

Although I feel very powerless at the moment, I take some comfort from the fact that he is in the best place and is being looked after by the fantastic staff at the Sick Kids. They are literally lifesavers.
