Up

And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.
G. K. Chesterton

Believe me, Raspberry only looked up a short time. Last night she found a small field mouse in the little alleyway connection between the house and the barn. She has a cat flap she can use to get out there and to the loft stairs. We've been locking her cat door with a hook and eye each evening because she has been involved in heavy mouse hunting. Last night, immediately after the 16 year old dishwasher suddenly came to a loud and final sickening mid-cycle stop, she burst through her cat door with mouse in mouth. She eventually lost it before we could intervene, and the chase was on. Of course it tucked itself away, somewhere. She finally gave up, as did we... but the search is on again this morning. She's now in her wicker bed by the window, looking down at the baseboard heater where we both know the mouse is. She's in need of a cat nap, and I'm taking G out shopping again, so things don't look promising for a mouse rescue. Max is not too interested and has already started in on his daily sleep requirements.

It is pouring and has done so for days. Good practice for G and his upcoming London weather ! We're looking for waterproof walking shoes today.
