Caged life

Shanghai is not all steel and glass and glitter; old overcrowded traditional lane houses (lilong) are still around.

Regrettably though, even if they represent somehow one of the old souls of this city, many of these are not considered worth of preservation and while waiting to be pulled down and leave their place to a spiritless 5 star compound, they slowly die, crumble and literally fall to pieces unnoticed and shadowed by the glamorous buzz of the city... and sadly together with their inhabitants.
