Spirit of adventure
This is S one of our senior students. A couple of weeks ago he had the surprise opportunity to go on the 'Spirit of NZ' a ship sailed by students under the wing of 'proper' sailors. The aim of the week is to build confidence and teamwork. Ultimately it usually changes the kids lives too.
It has certainly changed S's life. He came back and today he did a slide show presentation and talk about his 'adventure', something he would never have been able to do 3 years ago.
I stood there today with a lump in my throat as I witnessed how much he has grown as an individual. It wouldn't be fair to go into details but everyone there saw the difference and complimented him on his success.
Please also note I was insanely jealous of some of the photos he took on the journey - especially his sunsets and dolphin photos.
