.. But I am Shocked
These doors may be alarmed... But I am shocked!
I have just got back from visiting my 'Sugar Daddy' in hospital.
My friends tease in incessantly about my friendship with a neighbour who is over eighty. I am known as 'Arm Candy' and he as 'Sugar Daddy'. Unfortunately he is not wealthy enough for me! I have been invited to some fantastic places as his guest, and we have had jollies and jaunts throughout the UK and the Middle East together.
Two weeks ago 'Sugar Daddy' had several consultancy and part time jobs, a good social life and was life and soul of the party.
Then he contracted shingles. Neighbours rallied round, a rota of visits and taking in meals was arranged, and we all stopped by for a short chat. 'Sugar Daddy' was in excruciating pain with the blisters on his head spreading to his eye. He was on strong painkillers, which must have caused some confusion and none of us realised. He became seriously dehydrated and was admitted to hospital as an emergency five days ago. I was shocked.
I am glad to say he is now on the mend, but the point of this is that we all thought we were doing enough for 'Sugar Daddy'. Whereas in reality our time, sitting and having a chat with him, would have been better spent making a cup of tea and a snack to share, rather than leaving a meal for him that he didn't eat alone later.
Health is the greatest gift, let us all enjoy it to the full.
Happy blipping!
