Shore birds

Nipped down to the beach today, quite a few birds in evidence.
There's the Oystercatchers (Haematopus ostrlagus), the little ones with black collars and rust-coloured backs are Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) and the one with ridiculously long red shanks is a Redshank (Tringa totanis) also present are loads of Black-headed gulls (Larus ridibundus) and young herring gulls (Larus argentatus).

I also saw a bar-tailed godwit fly past. Back early from its breeding grounds in the Arctic, I think, and still sporting a bright red breast, unlike in the winter when there will be hundreds.
