New Monkland Parish Church

Not much encouragement from the weather today, but I find this an interesting building because of its age and its dourness. Compare it to the wealth & style bestowed on Norfolk churches serving parishes of a similar size!

This is "the original New Monkland parish church. It was originally built in 1640, and stands on a hill overlooking the village - some 600 feet above sea level. From this hill on a clear day, it is possible to see the Isle of Arran, which lies some 60 miles to the west. "
