Got a Bug!
When I woke this morning I knew that Mr. Fun was sick. A brand new sinus cold. Ugh!
Tuesdays and Thursdays I?m scheduled to be at the campus early, so I let him sleep and tried to do my best to get ready quietly. After a while he woke and insisted on making me a press-pot of coffee. I drank a cup quickly, gathered my things, descended the stairs, and was gone.
The traffic into the campus is ridiculous. I have mentioned this before at the start of a new semester -- so it's just the same old same old story. I was thankful that the campus police were at each of the stop signs waving us to move on. There is one road into the campus and the same road out. Several other streets could be made into entrance/exits, but the folks in those neighborhoods are not going to let that happen without a fight.
Once I got to the Writing Center a former student came to visit me. She was my best student this past spring semester. It was fun talking to her about her entrance now into freshman composition. Then it was time for me to get to my classroom. After being gone all weekend and having limited Internet connection, I was glad that not one student complained about my slow response to emails. Matter of fact, not one student complained about anything. Several of them were a little confused about the details of a couple of the assignments, but overall it was a very good class. They didn't even complain when I distributed the materials for the next writing project.
After class, I returned home as quickly as I could to see if there was anything I could do to help Mr. Fun feel better. He needed "drugs" so I headed to the store to purchase cough syrups and cough drops and even went to the local "Jamba Juice" shop and bought him two double shots of wheatgrass. Yes, that's a big "yuck" but that stuff sure does assist in hurrying a head cold along and when we know we're not feeling quite right, we have numerous times gotten wheatgrass and actually prevented a sinus cold.
So, it seemed more than appropriate when I clicked the first capture of the yellow rose, that I realized it had a bug. Yeah well, so does Mr. Fun!
Good night from a very hot Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
P.S. I don?t know what kind of bug it is, but its back legs have some semblance to a grasshopper.
