Kindergarten!
After school being postponed for a week due to Hurricane Irene, Jack was finally able to start Kindergarten today!
He was very excited to see his old friends from last year as well as meeting his new teacher and new children in his class. It was orientation today as well, so parents were able to ride the bus with the kids to school and ride home with them.
So many kids were in his class that were in his pre-K class last year. They were able to play a bit and check out the classroom, then the kids sat down at a table and had a teaparty consisting of apple juice and 'goldfish', while the teacher talked to the parents and handed out information.
It seems that Jack will have homework 4 nights a week and on top of Physical Education, Music and Library (which he also had last year), he will also have Art and Computer as well. The kids do not get recess this year, something that Jack will be pretty disappointed with.
His teacher seems very nice, and even knows Jacks grandmother (Marks mom) through the bank where she works.
After we recieved all of our information, we headed out to take the school bus home. The teacher handed the parents a little 'gift bag' filled with Hersey Kisses, Hugs, and a travel pack of tissues.....on the tag it said,
"First Day of School Parents Survival Kit: Hugs, Kisses, & tissues for tears (of joy or sadness)
No tears here though....I'm just so proud of him, and he's so excited! Just wish the weather was nicer for us today....pouring rain and cooler temperatures.
Jack even got to see his preschool teacher from last year and gave her a great big hug!
