1000 YEAR OLD HOLLY TREE

This is the oldest tree in the glen, of Glenshee - Perthshire. It doesn't look like much for a thousand year old tree, but before the house was built (out of view on the left of the picture) this used to be the car park for the neighbouring pub, the Dalrulzion Hotel.
It's growth was probably stunted by many decades of drinkers urinating at the bottom of it. The locals also tell me that many of the bonniest lads and lassies in the glen were conceived next to this tree, as the pub used to be the social centre of the area before drinking and driving became socially unacceptable. It closed shortly after.
