Istanbul
Woke up in foggy Limuru.
Breakfast in Nairobi,
Lunch in Istanbul,
Dinner in the air,
Bed in Reading.
A long long day.
Had a cheeky stopover in Istanbul on the way home, got out the airport surprisingly easily and were let loose with 6 or 7 hours to kill. It was quite an adventure, not knowing the first thing about Istanbul or a single word in Turkish but we made it to the centre and found one of many open to the street kebab places for lunch.
Then we just wandered, i guess it was a public holiday for Eid because it was packed but over half the shops were shut, including the entire Grand Bazar which was a shame. But we saw some great sights, it seems like a very interesting city and i always love soaking in a new place.
Got pretty hot and tired though, had some nice fat watermelon and bought the fam's some turkish delight. It was great i'd do it again!
And then just the last 4 hours (on the nicest plane yet though, turkish airlines outdid my expectations.) and then a long queue just in front of a bunch of incredibly loud and annoying 16 year old lads on their way home from a football tour and then bam, family, car, flying along the fast smooth motorway and there you are at home like you'd never left. And you fall into bed having been awake for 24 hours and sigh partly with relief and but mostly because you wish you didn't have to be back.
