Playing with Duma
This morning Duma and Mehitabel were sitting in the kitchen looking up at the cupboard that has their toys in it. They were very clear about what they wanted. So I took down the sticks with string and flying goodies and checked with them to see which one they wanted. Mehitabel went away. Not interested. But Duma showed distinct interest in the one with the feather and bell on the end of the red string. So that is the one I used to play with him. He really enjoyed his play time. Here he is on the stairs looking up at the toy and feeling quite wild if his expression is any indication.
Reminds me that in the paper today was a photograph of a cougar that had been living right near one of our more rural areas of Bellingham. Last week a 13 year old girl encountered the cougar and then the family saw it grooming itself in their back yard. The girl was fine. When the cougar saw her it took off. Yesterday they caught it using anesthetic darts and took it off to a much more remote area. It was a young female, not quite fully grown. Made us remember that our felines and that beautiful animal are related.
