Garlic time

I haven't managed to get to grips with the veg garden this year but I did plant some tatties, jerusalem artichokes (never tried those before, we were given them by a friend to see how they would do here) and of course garlic. Nowhere near as much garlic as I usually grow but enough to keep us going for a wee while... if I ration it.

I am now planning ahead and going to try to get a head start with the veg for next year. Challenge is to get the freeloading weeds beaten back to a point where I can maybe keep on top of it all.

Meanwhile I will remember to order my seed garlic in plenty of time so that I can get it planted before winter. I totally forgot last year and this lot was grown from some of our harvest last year planted in the spring. Which did fine but I like to get fresh seed as it never seems to be quite so productive if it's second generation (Or is that just an excuse to spend a few hours rummaging in seed catalogues?).

Of course I shall be reading this time next year and muttering damn I should listen to my own good advice!
