Monster mulcher!
This was the scene at the back of our church, when I went up there today to print off some cards for the Knitting Ministry. Until recently we had a lovely small lake surrounded by trees at the back of our church. Next Sunday, however will be the official ground-breaking for our new sanctuary, which is going to be built where the lake was. Our church has been growing in recent years, and after much thought, discussion and planning, the decision was finally taken to go ahead and build a new sanctuary. It's sad to see the lake go, but exciting to think about the future of our church. The lake has now been drained, and all the trees cut down and fed into this huge mulching machine. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of town for the ground-breaking, so I won't be able to blip that, but there will be more blips in the future, showing the growth of our new sanctuary.
In the evening Roger and I went out to eat, followed by a movie, The Help, an excellent movie based on the book of the same name, which is set in Mississippi during the 1960s. A southern society girl returns from college determined to become a writer, and turns her friends' lives -- and a small Mississippi town -- upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families.
