Sunflowers

Had a long lie-in this morning, reading. Can't remember when I last did that. Then we went up to the allotment and did a couple of hours hard labour. There were some serious weeds hiding under a row of dead pea plants - creeping buttercup, horsetail, milk thistles.....and enough squitch grass to thatch a small dwelling, or so it seemed. (Other names for couch grass Elytrigia repens are available; twitch, wickens, stroggle and grandmother grass apparently). The courgettes seem to have gone offline, but there were some more beans and lots more coming. There are a couple of fine sunflower plants up, but with no sign a flower bud yet.

Still, we were able to ogle these very nice sunflowers as we passed StevieFish's plot.

One of my favourite similes is from the song called The Santa Fe Trail:
"She'd a smile like an acre of sunflowers". In fact I saw a lovely smile a bit like that when looking through some blips just now!
