Harefield Fun Run Day

Three and a half years ago my step-dad had a heart transplant after spending the best part of 2 years in hospital waiting for one. Each year they hold a fundraiser fun run to raise money for an MRI scanner amongst other things. It falls on Peter's birthday and we go every year before the birthday party back home. My step-dad, Peter, is doing marvellously. We always see the nurses who were there throughout with their cheerful strength, and the families of the other patients my mum saw daily on the ward for 2 years in and out of intensive care corridors and over bleak polystyrine tea breaks. Not all the other patients are here today of course, but their families are still running. Hundreds wait for a heart each year. In Peters year Harefield received 12. The following year 0. Registering yourself on the donor list is a very good thing to do.
