Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2011 Saturday -- My Apologizies

In the journey of 971 blip posts, I have composed entirely too many collage entries. I'm here doing it again this evening. So my apologies!

After the grand funk, or is that drunk, of sipping from the huge goblet of life, and then the past two days writing about the saddness we have sipped, I just had to throw the glass against the wall, shatter and scatter the mood, stir my soul, and move on.

Come on life, I want to giggle and tickle with joy and delight!

After stopping at the Cayucos Public Library "Book Sale" where Mr. Fun purchased 9 used CDs and one cassette tape, each for a buck, we then started this day where we had been yesterday at a place with a view of the waves, the wind, and the wonder (looking through the glass and the reflection, sorry).

I had a great big 'ol cheese-burger made with beef from the Hearst Cattle Ranch in San Simeon. After licking the juice from my fingers and wiping my chin, we walked across the street, north a block to the "Brown Butter Cookie Company" for a free sample of their hand-rolled cookies and to purchase one of their cute t-shirts, and to capture a photo of the girls "hand rolling" the cookies.

Then we strolled through an "open house" of a home "For Sale" (we're dreaming about retirement property -- we also need to rob a bank).

Then we made our get-a-way from the little "cowboy-surf" community of Cayucos and headed for the fertile farmlands east of the coast. We made a quick drive through the campus of Cal State University at San Luis Obispo (just 13 miles from the coast). Then we stopped in Shell Beach to "wet our whistle" at Spyglass Inn Restaurant and sat there looking north toward the distant community of  Avila Beach, famous for its Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

Back in the car, we quickly skirted Pismo Beach and the holiday traffic, to find ourselves (once again as we were a month ago) traveling the thin black ribbon of pavement through the agricultural  fields of Guadelupe, a world so foreign to us, but with such a wholesome feel. Then we brushed the border of Vandenberg Air Force Base, and passed the flower fields, and on into the community of Lompoc. What in the world are we doing in Lompoc?

Well, a month ago while we were on vacation, we stayed in this community rather by accident (we were just wandering and hoping to get lost in California and we did)  and  while we were lost, we located a great Italian restaurant. So we planned this September mini-getaway to include another stop at this restaurant of delicious food. I hope we aren't the only people who plan their lives around food. We could plan an entire vacation from restaurant to restaurant .

So that's today, in a whole new goblet.

Tomorrow we've got another adventure planned and the grand finale is to end at the kennel to retrieve our three pooches, who we love and miss dearly, and then on to home at "Fun-ville."

Oh what a surprise and a thrill life can be when we are willing to sip from its goblet.

Good night from somewhere in California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
