Snorkeling through Seaweed

Today has been a great day so far. We woke up late and got breakfast at Mocha Jumby's near campus. Then Kristen joined Mikey and me for snorkeling at our beach. There was a thunderstorm on it's way so it was kind of cool out. The water was warmer than the air and all the fish were out feeding. The beach was covered with this yellow seaweed that we promptly named the "bubble wrap" seaweed. If you popped the little yellow seed-like things underwater, they released little pockets of air. I guess that's how they were all floating so well. Overall, snorkeling was amazing. I saw some giant sea slugs, a large school of silver and blue fish, two HUGE lobsters, tons of adorable little yellow fish (which made me smile), and a GIANT blue reef fish. It had a long kissy mouth with big eyes and a very flat body. I was at least 3-4 feet long!!! I was really close to shore too! I followed it for a while and tried to get the others attention because they hadn't seen it... but then it was gone. So cool!! Snorkeling is one of my favorite things to do on the island. Swimming side by side with Mikey isn't half bad either. =)

Now I just need to focus myself and study Pathology. I guess vet school in the Caribbean can't be all fun and games.
