Gimme Shelter
Gimme Shelter
Since I've been here in Mexico, I've marvelled at the size of the butterflies here. I've constantly been on the lookout for them to try and blip.
Not really how I wanted to get the chance, as this fella was on his last legs - literally. I 1st spotted him on a wee mat on the terrace. I was amazed that it was letting me get so close to take SNAPS w/out moving. However, I realised that all was not well when ants started to crawl over it's body w/out it doing much about it.
So I moved him to a table, but he was so weak that the wind was merely causing the poor thing to tumble uncontrollably across the table. So I then brought it inside and that it is where it eventually some hours later died.
At least it didn't end up as lunch for the ants!
Though it has taken me an absolute age to whittle down the photos from the 200 or so I took to ones that are even half decent. A macro lens would have been far better than the wide-angle and 20 mm lens I had at my disposal.
