Tribute to Istvan Kerny
We went yesterday evening to the Royal Academy to see the Hungarian photography exhibition. Seeing classic pics by Kertesz, Brassai, Capa as original prints rather than in a book is pleasure enough, but to see ground-breaking shots from 1913 onward, abstracts, studies of light and shade, graphic compositions was a revelation. Viewing Istvan Kerny's still-life of a ball of string is worth paying the entrance fee for.
I would urge any blippers who have not seen it to make the effort before Oct 2. Examples. The 'procession' picture is fantastic, as is the boys running to the water.
