Brick factory
One of the many brick factories along the Rhine, built in 1923 and out of use for some decades now. There used to be a lot of these, dotted along the riverside landscape, but all are out of use and often the only remainder is their characteristic tall chimney (this one's chimney is now 28 meters, while it used to be 48). They used river clay, readily available and very suitable, to manufacture into red bricks. The industry started in the nineteenth century and required steam engines and (for their time) advanced ovens.
This one got lucky and has been a workshop/gallery for artists since the late nineties.
