A Grand Day Out

So often, including on this very trip, a famous landmark has become so well known that the myth has usurped the reality - seeing it in the flesh feels like a bit of a let down.
The Grand Canyon is not one of these places.

We were booked onto a small tour, and when there was a knock on our door at 7am this morning informing us it was cancelled, we feared the worst.

It became a huge blessing in disguise though, as a guide friend of the hostel owner took us round instead. He was a great guy and we saw so much more than just the canyon. He took us all over the place and was also so full of knowledge he should really consider an appearance on mastermind.
