The Humming Vine

I finally had time to see the hummingbird vine (cypress vine, Ipomoea) this morning in the early morning sunshine. I usually let this vine grow up a trellis that was recently built. (I wanted to hide the trellis) It hasn't grown terribly well this year, I probably haven't been that nice to it and kept it watered. As far as I can tell I've never seen a hummingbird at the flowers. It must attract the hummers somewhere to have come up with the name.

I can really tell the days are getting on the shorter side. By the time I am able to go outdoors in the evenings, it's already dusky. I may become a weekend blipper for the winter months :)

Our heat wave is back, high in the 90's expected at least through the weekend.
