Grandkids

As we sat in the plane this morning, ready to taxi to the runway for take off, the dreaded announcement came through. When the captain said: ladies and gentlemen, I apologize to bring some bad news ....

I could hardly believe it when he told about the cause for this delay .... a pothole had 'appeared' on one of the two operational runways at the OR Thambo International Airport and had to be fixed .. the only other runway for that period had to handle all the incoming and departing flights ... domestic and international .. but then, we are living in Africa, today very dark indeed. (Only two runaways operational??)

The delay could have taken up to two hours, but joy when an hour later we were in the air. In the meantime, we were not allowed off the plane as the exact time for the delay was not known. It was not too uncomfortable, and passengers simply took the delay in their stride, chatting and discussing politics and news items.

They have grown so much since I last saw them in December and have become two cuties!

Damian today received the V.A.C. Via TM Negative Wound Pressure System; as far as I can make out, it is a type of implant inside of the wound that causes excess wound fluids and infectious materials to be removed. This will be his 5th hospital admission and 3rd anaesthetic procedure - all in one month.

I will probably see him tomorrow - can't wait.
