Bulldozia

Post-impressionism

At the crest of the hill in Thornwood, the Campsies to the North, what remains of the Govan shipyards to the South.

I am reminded of the lugubrious verse of Frank Kuppner (who would be Glasgow's poet laureate if I was in charge):

Out on a walk along Great Western Road,
I toss a letter I have carried too far in my pocket
into a sudden pillar box which I have never used before.
I have passed by it a few times in my forty years, I suppose.
Two days later, I get an answer from Dundee -
A city which I do not remember ever visiting.

- from 'Last Eternal Moments' in Everything is Strange (1994)
