Fairy Penguins

2 7 week old fairy penguins patiently waiting for their parents to come back from a day at sea with food. Apologies for the poor quality of this photo but it was taken with red light under the cover of darkness as these penguins only come out at night.

These penguins are only found on the south coast of Australia. They're called Fairy Penguins as they are considerably smaller than other 'regular' penguins.

We did the tour to see them twice as the first time round they were scared off by a group of noisy 2 and 3 year old kids. Why parents insist on taking their kids on these things I don't know. Thankfully the guide let us on the second tour for free.

One of those days where I couldn't decide what photo to Blip. There were many more better quality photos of seals, kangaroo's, pelicans etc, but I thought this one was pretty rare.
