Motanau birds - tern, shag, gull, pied stilt
Had a lovely day at Motanau, which thank goodness hasn't changed much since I was there last. sometimes places change a lot and not often for the better, and I had heard that houses in the little sea side community had got very expensive. which isn't surprising as it's a fabulous view from the hills.
The river runs out to the sea, no estuary really, but it's possible to get across the river at low tide by wading.
There are also important fossils in the area.
There's also a swimming beach in the summer.
I loved it today, no one there really, really quiet, but a glorious sunny day so plenty of birds - this is just a sample.
there was also a seal which I've never seen there before.
The tern has a fish, the shag has a stick, the pied stilt has a crab, and the gull has a lot of water!!
