How to train your dog

This is what Chaka thinks of my dog training book! She is my son's Shephard mix, 1year old pup. So far she has chewed expensive nike sneakers (my husband's and he was quite uoset!), 2 pr of my favorite flip flops. My granddaughter's favorite mermaid jammie bottoms, countless boxes, paper, kid toys, wood, a tv remote, balls of any kind, and the latest is this book. I'm thankful she hasn't actually eaten any of these things! Oh, and she has her own toys which she promptly de-stuffs and de-squeeks as soon as she gets them! I don't know what to do. She gets tons of exercise and attention, a good diet, love etc. She is super smart. Knows all her basics. Sit, down etc. She is SO hyper!! Maybe it's her breed. I've read Shephards are working dogs. What kind of work can a family dog do? She is very friendly. Too friendly sometimes. She jumps on people when she is excited. Any dog trainers out there who can give me some tips? Giving her away is not an option. We won't do it. She's part of our family.
