Nature's Kaleidoscope
Last day of August,
first light of dawn;
an autumnal nip in the air.
Last night slept badly;
first up in the household;
weather looking fair.
Will it last?
There's no knowing,
but the air grows warmer, and still.
Peg out the washing,
hope for the best
and, perhaps, it will.
Tomorrow's September,
the month of promise,
new starts, and hope:
a time for change
through nature's kind
kaleidoscope.

Soon after I captured this sky, a HUGE cruise ship sailed into the mouth of the Dart. An hour later, I was sitting on the higher ferry out of Dartmouth, waiting as it sailed slowly by. It really was ENORMOUS. Some voyagers were on the multi-level decks, enjoying the view; one in her dressing-gown, outside her cabin door. I don't think I'd like to be trapped on a huge floating hotel, but each to his own.
Otherwise, this morning's brief outing revealed it to be (on the Unglorious 31st) Roadkill Day: one hedgehog, one rabbit, one mole (would you believe!), one badger, and - never seen before - one gull, of all things! Hrmph!
PS Have just watched the aforementioned large cruiser leaving Dartmouth (from our garden). It's called the Ocean Princess and is, apparently, one of the smaller and cosier of the company's ships. The zoom on my little camera is amazing!
