The magic of the movies (10): The life of an extra

Filming is drawing to a close, tomorrow is supposed to be the last day, so apparently the city will be back to normal by Friday. However, it seemed to be a busy evening filming yet more crowd scenes. Pictures should be viewed clockwise from top left. While extras every now and then do get to film things, keeping carefully to their cues, so here we have manic action in shot and groups of people quietly waiting out of shot their turn to rush around. However, that takes up very little time, and much of the rest of their time on set appears to be taken up with waiting around. Now there are different ways to fill time, like telling your mates a funny story, or winding someone up by nicking their handbag and going through it (he did give it back eventually), or just watching the girls go by. I get the feeling it gets tedious very quickly, never mind cold of an evening.

PS For the first time (to my knowledge) the City Chambers was flying the Stars and Stripes, very odd, but the Americans among the watchers were having their photos taken with it in the background.
