14th century light, 21st century subject
We visited a castle today, built in the 13th century and used by the Counts of Savoie (Savoy) until the Bernese overthrew them in the early 16th century. Pope Felix V (an "antipope") lived here for a while. He was a truly nasty piece of work.
Anyway, the castle - Chateau de Chillon - is a stunning edifice at the eastern end of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) with lots of walkways, turrets and courtyards. Parking is free, entry for a family of four is just 28 CHF, and if you round it off with a boat trip you've got a whole day's entertainment sorted.
Most of the castle rooms give onto the lake, providing opportunities for good photos inside and outside. This one features boy 3.
