pick me... pick me...

i'm the cutest - after all...

or so, he seemed to be saying... i truly thought he was going to come right up out of the water! and i was trying to remember - if i was ever really taught - what the rules are regarding beavers... you know, like with bears - you make yourself bigger; with lions, you stay still; with spiders, you run like the dickens... but what do you do when confronted by a beaver?

initially when i first saw this guy, the way he was slinking through the water... i thought he was an eel - 'cuz he just looked like black ink on top of the water. but i laughed out loud because i think eel's are only found in the ocean... clearly not in this little man-made lake of mine. and then, i saw his cute little ears poking up out of the water. do eels have ears? 'kay... i admit... it's been some time since i've been in school... sigh...

anyway - mr. beaver was duly impressed with me as he kept circling around ... coming up to the rock i was standing near. i just stood quietly, snapping every now and then in the stillness of the moment... maybe it was the flash of the camera he was intrigued by... unlike other animals, i never spoke a word out loud to him - i merely made eye contact. you can see... he was making eyes back at me... glory be...

note: so you can see after many days - i'm finally beginning to feel a bit better... getting to my lake was a wonderful outing - being in fresh air does wonders - but it did take a toll... i appreciate all the well wishes from you - does a body good knowing you're thought about...

and makes for a

happy day.....
