August Bank Holiday and I find myself battling across the Cairngorm plateau in full waterproofs, hoods up, gloves on, struggling to keep upright. Sometimes it just has to be done. It is good to be reminded that the Scottish mountains can never be underestimated, and the high plateau up here is an Arctic landscape.
