Kolomyia

We went further towards the mountains (again expecting to reach them) and headed to Kolomyia. It was far from Ivano-Frankivsk and the drive was nice (if a little hot) but not mountainous enough.

We stayed in a quaint, little guest house just out of town. It was owned by an English speaking Ukrainian couple, which in Ukraine is rarer than a comfortable bus journey.

Lonely Planet seemed to love Kolomyia, going on about it's 'Spa town feel' and friendly appearance. The only reasonably notably thing there though, really, was a giant painted egg. I think that speaks for itself really. Well, it's not the kind of thing you put in a brochure. "Come to Kolomyia - where you can gaze upon our magnificent egg. The biggest in all the land".

The most exciting part of the day was playing a sort of lucky dip with a menu in a Ukrainian restaurant. A game we like to call "point and hope".
