The Aftermath
A neighbor's cat sits on a step taking in sunshine. After yesterday's record rainfall and statewide flooding, today seems abnormally quite and clear. Walking down my road I could here the hum of pumps in basements. Fire trucks went from house to house emptying flooded cellars. Hoses hung out cellar windows with water gushing from and neighbors chatted together about the monumental damage seen state wide.
God bless you Vermont. It has been a harrowing time and glad Irene has passed. Lives lost. Homes washed away. Entire towns gone. The shock will take some time to wear off i think. Numb today. Very very numb.
