Happy Birthday, Queen Beatrix (of the Netherlands)
It's as though life has gone into fast-forward mode.
Today I attended, in Hunters Hill, a suburb just north of Sydney Harbour, a celebration of the (Dutch) Queen's Birthday, organised by Dutch-Link and the school, called, De Kangeroe.
There were lots of young parents and lots of young children and their Dutch was still perfect because, unlike those of us who migrated to Sydney, in the 1950s, they may not be here for the long haul. Perhaps they are ex-pats. Perhaps they are having a look to see if, as immigrants, they'll stay.
If not they may try another country.
The world is so small now-a-days.
It was fun to see these children play shuffle-board. A Dutch version of the game that we, who migrated here in the 1950s, brought with us.
They were still having fun with it!!
